The Eliza Room

Going to the end of the Louisa Room and turning left takes you into the Eliza Room, named for Eliza Harris Crenshaw, who along with her husband Samuel Crenshaw were the first generation to occupy Crenshaw Hall. The Eliza Room is the oldest room in the house, and was all that the first floor of Crenshaw Hall consisted of when the home was originally built in the early 1820s. This oldest portion of Crenshaw Hall was built without any modern building materials. All of the joints are held together using pegs or mortise and tenon.

Also in the Eliza Room, you are sure to notice an old safe that originally belonged to Major John M. Crenshaw. When opened, we recovered documents and papers from the early 1800s.
